Lil Wayne Says He’d Retire To Be A Better Dad

Too $hort tried calling it quits but is now working on his 19th album. Jay-Z’s 2003 retirement lasted about three years before he returned to rap in 2006. And now Lil Wayne is talking about hanging up the mic. Will he actually do it?

During a radio interview with Hot 97′s Angie Martinez in March, the 28-year-old said he’s walking away at 35. Then Weezy switched up, telling XXL that he would be “gone by 31.” Now, Lil Tunechi, who dropped his Sorry 4 the Wait mixtape on Wednesday, tells MTV News that he isn’t sure when exactly he will walk away from rap.

“I’m not sure; I’m not gonna Brett Favre y’all,” Wayne said referring to the former Green Bay Packers quarterback who finally handed the NFL his walking papers in January after years of talking about it. “I’m not gonna draw it all the way out the whole year: ‘We wondering, is Wayne gonna do this?’ But the honest answer is I don’t know.”

Wayne — who has already recorded eight solo albums, sold more than 10 million records and won four Grammy Awards — said he wants to focus less on making hits and more on his kids. His oldest daughter, Reginae, is a budding performer herself at age 12, and Weezy wants his little girl to eventually stunt like her daddy.

“I’m so settled in my life right now,” he told us. “I have my kids; they’re wonderful. My daughter has her career ahead of her now. I have to focus on that, and I have to put the same focus that I put in my career. … I want to become a better father, I want to become a better man to my woman, and those things take time. and time takes away from this. So the honest answer to that [retirement] question is, I don’t know. Maybe so.”

Weezy’s ninth solo album, Tha Carter IV is one of the year’s most-anticipated LPs and is set to be released on August 29. Will it be his last? Fans have to wait and see.

Lil Wayne, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga Nominated For Bowling Honors

The sport of bowling has come quite a long way since its formal inception back in 1895. The popular pastime has enjoyed continuing resurgence, with nationwide tournaments even receiving full-time coverage on sporting networks and the like. The sport has taken a bold step in raising its visibility today after the Bowling Proprietors Association of America (BPAA) announced nominations for a 2011 International Bowling Hall Of Fame nod – and some of the names tossed into the hat are amongst the most popular figures around.

The BPAA’s list of bowlers to be inducted into the hall span the entire scope of entertainment. Young Money honcho Lil Wayne, NBA living legend Michael Jordan, curvy beauty Kim Kardashian and global superstar Lady Gaga all have been awarded nominations. Teen heartthrob Justin Bieber, actor Jeff Bridges and singer/actress Miley Cyrus were also included on the list with other celebrities.

International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame Chairman Keith Hamilton spoke with website AllHipHop saying, “Each of these 2011 candidates has had a significant impact in helping to keep bowling as one of the nation’s most treasured pastimes” in a written statement. Mr. Hamilton also went on to say that last year’s top nod battle between Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber was a “showdown” and a hopeful precursor to this year’s star-heavy contest for “bowling immortality” according to the rest of the statement.

Of the stars listed, Lil Wayne seems to be the most experienced as Weezy joined up with PBA pro bowler Norm Duke and New Orleans Hornets basketball star Chris Paul at the NBA player’s annual celebrity bowling tourney. Although Wayne made it into the final rounds, he was vanquished by his good friend Chris Paul and Australian pro bowler Jason Belmonte.

Like other major sports, fans are being asked to vote online for their favorite stars and will receive a free game of bowling at one of 4000 centers who are participating in the event. Voting will take place between July 12 and August 6 – the last day of voting also being National Bowling Day in the United States.

Incarcerated rapper T.I. updated his blog ealier today in his most recent open letter to his ever committed fans. As the days get nearer to the Kaaang’s release, TIP is giving props to the many folks who’s held him down over the course of the past months.

What up world? I appreciate the continued love and support that everyone has been giving me. This chapter in my story will soon be coming to an end and I will be back in the flesh with you sooner than later. In the meantime I want to give a special shout out to a few particular individuals that have been sending me letters, cards, comments, tweets and just overall holding me down. Nicki Minaj Denies Hotel Attack, Slams Media

After gossip site TMZ posted sensational news last night (July 13) that Young Money rapper Nicki Minaj was involved in an argument in a Dallas hotel that led to her being assaulted, the rapper took to Twitter early this morning to dismiss the claims while also slamming the media – although the news of the alleged assault spread like wildfire throughout the Web.

With two fiery tweets aimed at fans and the media, the Pink Friday starlet began her short rant with, “The fact that u believe a man either slapped or punched me in the face & didn’t leave on a stretcher w/his balls hangin off? #getaF%cknLife.” Right behind that tweet, Nicki quickly added, “The media could pee on ur leg & tell u its raining. You’d believe it. You’d believe u were an adopted martian if TMZ told u so. #stopit5.”

When rumors that the man who reportedly assaulted Nicki Minaj was best friend and hype man Safaree “SB” Samuels surfaced, the longtime friend of the entertainer fired off an angry tweet of his own. “The general public are some stupid muthaf–kas!!!! Y’all d–ks believe anything on a website…. It’s really a shame… Wut up tho Dallas?!!” SB followed that tweet this morning stating he’d never hit a woman.

A spokesperson for the Dallas Police Department confirmed for MTV News on Wednesday that officers did respond to a call at the Palomar Hotel on Monday night, but that no action was taken. “We responded to her and a friend arguing over a suitcase, and one of them let go and it hit her in the lip,” said Dallas PD spokesperson Kevin Janse.

Fans have poured in a ton of comments surrounding this brouhaha, with well-wishers seemingly relieved that Nicki Minaj did not suffer any harm.

“Glad to hear that Nicki Minaj is ok,” tweeted fellow Queens native and mogul Russell Simmons. Fan @LowKeyUHTN said, “Welp, Nicki Minaj came out swinging this morning…” – no doubt in regards to her tweets from earlier.

Some skeptical fans had their own ideas.

“So Nicki Minaj man hit her in her mouth and she called 911 but didn’t want to press charges…#classicdomesticdispute,” tweeted user @MzShae80. “So I’m confused…. Did Nicki Minaj get slapped or NOT??? Or was TMZ lying?” asked a confused @BKCHICK718.

Nicki Minaj was in Dallas last night on a stop with Britney Spears and the popular Femme Fatale tour where the curvy beauty performed without a hitch after the reported fracas.
